Jeff and Kristin's Wedding
About Jeff Sponaugle
So who is this Jeff guy?
Jeff was born in Huntington, West Virginia in December of 1970, the third child of Charles and Sandy Sponaugle. Jeff has
two older siblings; Rebecca who is one year older and James who is three years older. Jeff spent 10 years in West Virginia
before the family moved to Houston, Texas for two years, followed by a final move to Indiana. The remainder of Jeff's
childhood was spent in the very flat plains Indiana.
After high school Jeff went to Purdue University where he received his bachelors degree in both Computer Engineering and
Electrical Engineering, specializing in microprocessor design and parallel processing. After graduation he relocated to
Portland, Oregon to start his career as an engineer at Intel Corporation.
In 1997 Jeff left Intel to be one of the early engineers at an Intel funded startup in the internet telephony field called eFusion.
Jeff's career quickly accelerated at the fast moving startup and in 1999 eFusion was purchased by ITXC, a public technology
company. While at eFusion Jeff served as a Sr. Software Engineer, Software Engineering Manager, and eventually the
Principal Architect. Oddly enough after the sale Jeff ended up with the domain efusion.com. If only someone developed
some kind if internet fusion power source that domain would be perfect.
After completing the sale of the company, Jeff along with eFusion COO Luis Machuca, Intel exec Kurt Koehler, and fellow
eFusion architect Murali Karamchedu founded Kryptiq Corporation. Jeff serves as both the Chief Technology Officer as well
as the Chief Security Officer at Kryptiq. Kryptiq is a software development company specializing in the ambulatory medical
field and has over 100 employees.
Aside from the obvious technical geekyness, what else does Jeff like to do? Jeff is an avid automotive enthusiast with a
special interesting in higher technology applications. He has been a professional engine calibrator (tuner) traveling to
locations around the US to tune cars as well as developing research calibrations. Like any good car enthusiast he hold the
firm belief that there really never is too much horsepower, just not enough traction.
His primary vehicle field of interest revolves around the Subaru designed Rally cars, and Jeff was also a co-driver in the US
SCCA Rally. If you ask Jeff about cars, you will probably get more information then you thought you might ever need. What
can be more fun then discussing the virtues of stoichiometric ratios, knock thresholds, and rotational loss!
Jeff is also a typically geek extraordinaire with interests in high powered rocketry, astrophotography, astronomical
observing, telescope instrumentation, microcontroller and microprocessor construction, circuit prototyping, and pretty much
anything that involves electrons. His amateur radio callsign is K7JBS, and he does both HF and VHF work including digital
modes, software radios, and long range communications. Jeff is also an avid rifleman, including both short range and long
range precision shooting, round development, reloading, and range estimation.
Jeff and Kristin will tie the knot on
October 15th 2011 at the beautiful Allison
Inn and Spa outside of Portland Oregon.
